Hakomi is a way of looking at the world in a compassionate, mindful, curious, non-invasive and respectful way. It is more than a method or set of techniques. You will learn how to turn awareness inward for self-study, and how mindfulness can infuse this exploration with a sense of curiosity and compassion.

Hakomi® workshop on August 10th-11th 2018: Shai Lavie

Hakomi® workshop: The Stories We Tell, The Life We Live: An Introduction to the Hakomi Method offers the opportunity to explore the unconscious beliefs that run our lives, and try out new new possibilities. This workshop will combine didactic and experiental modes, and introduce participants to the Hakomi Methods. The workshop is for everyone who wants to deepen self-understanding in their work or personal life. The event will be held in English.

Workshop Description

How much of our lives are we simply living out old stories? “This is what I need to be happy.” “This is how I need to be in relationship to get love.” “I am not capable of doing the work I really love.” This workshop offers the opportunity to explore the unconscious beliefs that run our lives, and to try out new possibilities. The workshop will combine didactic and experiential modes, and introduce participants to the Hakomi Method.

In the first day of this workshop, we will learn the basic principles of mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy and introduce key techniques of the Hakomi method. We will study how unconscious core-level material is held in the body, and how mindfulness can bring this material into awareness. We will also discuss the neuroscience of unconscious belief systems—how we get locked into old stories that define our egoic identity and limit our relational experience.

In the second day, we will go deeper into the Hakomi techniques of tracking, contact, and inducing mindfulness. Using these techniques, we will engage an experiential journey into both the familiar stories we tell ourselves, and the possibilities of moving into new, more dynamic and creative experiences of being alive. Working in small groups, participants will practice Hakomi principles and techniques in support of other participants’ dynamic unfolding into a more expansive experience of being alive.

Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Somatic Psychotherapy has been taught around the world for over 30 years. Many graduates of the training have commented that Hakomi significantly refined and deepened skills they already possessed while at the same time, provided a powerful model to bring about deep transformation and healing.

Goals/Objectives

  • Introduce the key principles of the Hakomi method of mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy, including organicity, non-violence, safety, mind-body holism and unity.
  • Learn to use mindfulness to uncover the presence of unconscious belief systems.
  • Learn to use a body-based mindfulness to locate the pathways that can take us out of these habitual belief systems.
  • Develop familiarity with several Hakomi techniques, including tracking, contact statements, and inducing mindfulness.

Hakomi® workshop will be organized together with Shai Lavie, who is certified in the Hakomi Method of mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and is a Certified Hakomi Trainer on the faculty of the Hakomi Institute of California. Read more about Shai here.
